SendToMac lets two devices on the same Wi-Fi send a file, a photo, or a short note after one scans a code. There is no account and no ad network.
When you open the SendToMac app on a Mac, it sits in the menu bar. Pressing Option and Command together opens it again. That shortcut only checks those two keys. It does not record what you type. The file moves between the phone and the Mac on the local network. It is not uploaded to a public cloud. A file you receive in the app is saved to Downloads/SendToMac.
While the other device is downloading, the Mac may keep a temporary copy so the transfer can finish. That copy is deleted after the download, or within about 15 minutes if it is not downloaded. Quitting the app ends the pair. Pairing codes are kept in memory only.
A short note is passed between the two open pages so it can be copied. It is not written to a file and is not kept after the page closes.
If someone hosts SendToMac on the public internet over HTTPS, that host only pairs the devices. File bytes are meant to go directly between the phone and the Mac and are not stored on the host. The handshake that connects the devices, and a short note, do pass through the host. Do not send secrets through a host you do not trust.
No account. No analytics. No tracking cookies. No sale of data. The page does not ask for your name, email, or phone number.
The code in the page address identifies the pair. Anyone who has that link, and can reach the page, can try to join while it is open. Do not share the code with someone you do not want to receive from.
